Poplin fabric is a type of woven fabric with a smooth surface, medium thickness, and durability, obtained by tightly weaving fine warp and thick weft yarns.
It is generally produced from 100% cotton, cotton-polyester blends, or lycra (stretchy) cotton yarns. Its smooth texture, matte finish, and breathable properties make it a popular choice for both clothing and home textiles.

Originally derived from a fabric called "papeline" in the Avignon region of France, poplin is known today in the textile world for its balanced texture and shape-retaining properties.

Since it is a 100% natural fabric, it may shrink, attention should be paid to the first wash. If possible, the first wash should be done before sewing.

Since it is a natural fabric, it wrinkles especially after washing. Although it does not wrinkle as much as Linen in daily use, it will wrinkle enough to require ironing again when taken out of the suitcase.

Light colors may require lining as they will be slightly see-through. Voile lining can be used as lining.
