Frequently Asked Questions

Lace fabric, what is it?

Lace fabric is a decorative fabric type created by connecting threads through knitting, wrapping, and knotting techniques to form an openwork (perforated) surface, featuring floral, geometric, or abstract patterns. Today, it is largely mass-produced on Raschel and knitting looms, offering options for every budget with a wide variety of colors, patterns, and weights.

Patterns are distributed evenly or freely across the fabric surface; the ground is often a net-like structure, which gives the fabric both lightness and flexibility. The ability to produce it with different yarns such as cotton, polyester, and viscose allows lace to be offered in a wide range of textures, from stiff to soft.

Lace fabric can be used both as a decorative accent and as a standalone design surface. Its durable structure, easy availability, and affordable cost provide versatile use, from everyday wear to home textiles.

Advantages of Lace Fabrics

- Its affordable cost enables widespread production and mass designs.
- The variety of colors and patterns offers choices suitable for every style and season.
- Its flexible structure easily adapts to different draped or fitted patterns.
- Its durable texture retains its shape with frequent use and washing.
- It can be used multi-purposefully as both an accent detail and a main fabric.

Lace fabric is used in what applications?

- Wedding dresses and bridal gowns: Used in embroidered and heavily textured types, in corset, sleeve, skirt layer, and veil details.
- Evening and cocktail dresses: Forms the main surface of elegant designs, either alone or as an overlay on a lining.
- Daily and ready-to-wear: Lighter types are preferred for items such as blouses, dresses, tunics, and skirts.
- Lingerie and beachwear: Flexible and lightweight varieties are used in the production of underwear and sarongs.
- Home textiles: Featured in decorative applications such as tablecloths, runners, curtains, and pillow edgings.
- Accessories and craft projects: Utilized in complementary details like shawls, scarves, embellishments, and border trims.

Lace fabric is preferred for what reasons?

- Wide product range: Offers options suitable for every segment, from simple everyday types to heavily embroidered bridal and evening wear laces.
- Adapts to every style: With a variety of colors, patterns, and weights, it easily adapts to both classic and modern designs.
- Versatile use: Can be used as a standalone main fabric or combined with other fabrics as an accent detail.
- Aesthetic value: Its openwork structure and rich patterns give the product an elegant and decorative appearance.
- Flexible processability: Its structure, which adapts to different patterns and silhouettes, gives the designer broad creative freedom.
- Options for every budget: Caters to different budgets, from economical everyday types to high-end embroidered laces.

What are the care instructions?

Without direct contact with the fabric, the iron can be ironed on cotton using the "Silk" setting.

Is a primer required?

The vast majority of embroidered evening dress fabrics are produced with hand or machine embroidery on a tulle base. Since tulle is a transparent and lightweight fabric due to its structure, the use of lining in such designs is almost mandatory – both to prevent the skin from showing, to ensure that the inner side of the embroidery threads does not cause discomfort when touching the skin, and to improve the drape of the fabric.

The most common choices for lining are Acetate satin or Crepe Satin; they drape beautifully without disrupting the flow of the fabric. For those who desire a lighter fall, placing chiffon or tulle between the satin and the fabric is also among the alternatives. The color of the lining is usually matched with skin tone or the main color of the fabric.

About Color Tones..
