Frequently Asked Questions

Brokar what is fabric?

Brocade fabric is a type of jacquard woven fabric known for its rich and showy texture with embossed patterns on its surface. It is usually produced using a combination of silk, viscose, polyester, or metallic yarns.
The most distinctive feature of the fabric is that the patterns are created by the threads during weaving — that is, the patterns are not printed afterwards, but are directly woven into the fabric's structure. This is the most important difference that distinguishes brocade from ordinary fabrics.

Brocade has been used throughout history in many areas, from court garments and stage costumes to curtains and upholstery fabrics; it has become a symbol of luxury, splendor, and craftsmanship.

Properties of Brocade Fabric

It has an embossed woven structure; patterns are created on the surface of the fabric through weaving.

It is sturdy and durable, does not wrinkle easily, and retains its shape for a long time.

It has a shimmering appearance thanks to shiny yarns (especially metallic or glittery yarns).

It offers a rich variety of patterns: floral, baroque, geometric and classical motifs are frequently used.

It has a heavy weight, which gives it a flowing and voluminous drape.

It has a luxurious and elegant surface texture, mostly gaining depth through the contrast of matte and glossy threads.

Where is Brokar fabric used?

Brocade is preferred in both decorative textiles and bespoke clothing due to its visual richness and structural durability.

Decorative Textiles: Used in areas such as curtains, drapes, upholstery fabrics, tablecloths, and pillowcases.
Clothing Design: Preferred for evening wear, jackets, skirts, vests, corsets, wedding dress details, or stage costumes.
Stage and Costume Arts: These arts are used in theatre, opera, and ballet costumes to create historical or noble appearances.
Accessory Production: Used in bags, belts, shoe covers, and decorative objects.

Why is Brokar fabric preferred?

Its rich and shimmering texture adds a luxurious look to spaces or designs.

Its robust structure ensures a perfect fit in models that require a voluminous shape.

The formation of patterns within the weave gives the fabric a long-lasting quality.

Its structure, which blends classic and modern elements, can be easily used in both traditional and contemporary designs.

Does it pull?

Since it is a 100% natural fabric, it may shrink, attention should be paid to the first wash. If possible, the first wash should be done before sewing.

Does it wrinkle? Can it be ironed?

Since it is a natural fabric, it wrinkles especially after washing. Although it does not wrinkle as much as Linen in daily use, it will wrinkle enough to require ironing again when taken out of the suitcase.

What are the care instructions?

Not Suitable for Dryer

It should not be machine washed; it should be hand washed.

Bleach Should Not Be Used

Without direct contact with the fabric, the iron can be ironed on cotton using the "Silk" setting.

Is a primer required?

Light colors may require lining as they will be slightly see-through. Voile lining can be used as lining.
