Scuba fabric is a technical fabric type produced with a double-layer knitted structure, high elastane (Lycra) content; it is firm, shaping, and form-holding. It gets its name from its use in diving suits, due to its body-hugging and supportive structure.
Scuba fabric has a higher grammage compared to swimwear fabric. However, this does not necessarily mean that the fabric is thick; scuba fabrics are produced in different thickness options, including thin and thick. Their common point is that they all exhibit a structured and voluminous appearance, not a draped one.
