Skirt fabrics encompass materials specifically chosen for sewing midi, mini, and maxi skirts, with drape, shape retention, and sewability being key considerations. Viscose, satin, chiffon, linen, denim, and jersey are the primary types of skirt fabrics.

In skirt making, fabric weight preference varies according to the skirt type: 80–150 g/m² fabrics are suitable for draped skirts, while 150–300 g/m² fabrics are appropriate for structured skirts. Fabric selection should also be made based on different cuts, such as A-line, pencil, and ruffled skirts.
