Frequently Asked Questions

Lace what is fabric?

Lace fabric is a decorative type of fabric in which threads are interconnected using knitting, winding, and knotting techniques to create an openwork (holed) surface featuring floral, geometric, or abstract patterns. Today, it is largely mass-produced on Raschel and knitting machines, offering a wide variety of colors, patterns, and weights to suit every budget.

Patterns are distributed regularly or freely across the fabric surface; the ground is typically a net-like structure, which gives the fabric both lightness and flexibility. The ability to produce it with various yarns such as cotton, polyester, and viscose allows lace to be offered in a wide range of textures, from stiff to soft.

Lace fabric can be used both as a decorative accent and as a standalone design surface. Its durable structure, easy availability, and affordable cost give it versatile applications, from everyday wear to home textiles.

Advantages of Lace Fabrics

- Its affordable cost enables widespread production and mass designs.
- Its variety of colors and patterns offers choices suitable for every style and season.
- Its flexible structure easily adapts to different draped or fitted patterns.

- Evening and cocktail dresses: Used alone or as an overlay on a lining, forming the main surface of elegant designs.
- Everyday and ready-to-wear: Lighter types are preferred for items like blouses, dresses, tunics, and skirts.
- Lingerie and beachwear: Flexible and lightweight varieties are used in the production of underwear and pareos.
- Home textiles: Featured in decorative applications such as tablecloths, runners, curtains, and pillow edgings.
- Accessories and craft projects: Utilized in complementary details like scarves, foulards, embellishments, and border trims.

What are the care instructions?

Suitable for dry cleaning only; do not wash with water.

Without direct contact with the fabric, the iron can be ironed on cotton using the "Silk" setting.

Is a primer required?

The vast majority of embroidered evening dress fabrics are produced with hand or machine embroidery on a tulle base. Since tulle is a transparent and lightweight fabric due to its structure, the use of lining in such designs is almost mandatory – both to prevent the skin from showing, to ensure that the inner side of the embroidery threads does not cause discomfort when touching the skin, and to improve the drape of the fabric.

The most common choices for lining are Acetate satin or Crepe Satin; they drape beautifully without disrupting the flow of the fabric. For those who desire a lighter fall, placing chiffon or tulle between the satin and the fabric is also among the alternatives. The color of the lining is usually matched with skin tone or the main color of the fabric.
