Frequently Asked Questions

Fransız Dantel what is fabric?

Lace fabric is a decorative fabric type where threads are connected to each other using knitting, winding, and knotting techniques to form an openwork (holed) surface, featuring floral, geometric, or abstract patterns. Today, it is largely mass-produced on Raschel and knitting looms, offering options suitable for every budget with a wide variety of colors, patterns, and weights.

Patterns are distributed regularly or freely on the fabric surface; the ground is mostly a net (mesh) structure, which gives the fabric both lightness and flexibility. Its ability to be produced with different yarns such as cotton, polyester, and viscose allows lace to be offered in a wide range of textures, from stiff to soft.

Lace fabric can be used both as a decorative accent and as a standalone design surface. With its durable structure, easy availability, and affordable cost, it has a versatile range of uses, from daily wear to home textiles.

What are the care instructions?

Suitable for dry cleaning only; do not wash with water.

Without direct contact with the fabric, the iron can be ironed on cotton using the "Silk" setting.

Is a primer required?

The vast majority of embroidered evening dress fabrics are produced with hand or machine embroidery on a tulle base. Since tulle is a transparent and lightweight fabric due to its structure, the use of lining in such designs is almost mandatory – both to prevent the skin from showing, to ensure that the inner side of the embroidery threads does not cause discomfort when touching the skin, and to improve the drape of the fabric.

The most common choices for lining are Acetate satin or Crepe Satin; they drape beautifully without disrupting the flow of the fabric. For those who desire a lighter fall, placing chiffon or tulle between the satin and the fabric is also among the alternatives. The color of the lining is usually matched with skin tone or the main color of the fabric.
