The vast majority of embroidered evening dress fabrics are produced with hand or machine embroidery on a tulle base. Since tulle is a transparent and lightweight fabric due to its structure, the use of lining in such designs is almost mandatory – both to prevent the skin from showing, to ensure that the inner side of the embroidery threads does not cause discomfort when touching the skin, and to improve the drape of the fabric.
The most common choices for lining are Acetate satin or Crepe Satin; they drape beautifully without disrupting the flow of the fabric. For those who desire a lighter fall, placing chiffon or tulle between the satin and the fabric is also among the alternatives. The color of the lining is usually matched with skin tone or the main color of the fabric.
